By registering with the (oddly named) Mailing Preference Service I don't believe there is any danger of consequently not receiving official letters - including those addressed to The Occupier.

As well as the mailing preference service - which will stop addressed 'direct marketing' mail - you can also opt-out of unaddressed mail through the Royal Mail. Obviously this will only stop the unaddressed stuff that your postie delivers and not the reams of stuff delivered by other means....

This page http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=400126&mediaId=500081 explains the Royal Mail service.

This page http://www.mydm.co.uk/control-dm.html links to a page about the Mailing, Telephone and Fax preference servcies.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Trevor - I didn't know that (or if I did I'd forgotten!)

The possible down side is that people who opt out wont receive money-off vouchers distributed by Royal Mail for local suppliers. (Indecision, indecision! :? )
